Wishing you Well

Good morning and Happy Saturday! This card is actually based on the design of a card my Mom made (with a little help from me) when she and my Dad were here recently to help us out after my surgery. She had wanted to make a Thank you card for someone and chose this adorable image that I rec'd from the Fulfill your Wishlist thread at Splitcoast - she had fun going through my box brimming with images! Well, once I saw it come together, I just had to make one too! I love how this image looks once coloured. I don't yet own any Hoppers, but I see an order happening in the near future! The CS is Chocolate and Indian Corn Blue from CTMH. Sentiment stamp and background stamp are also CTMH. A quick and simple card, but I love how it turned out.

Ooops, I forgot...

to add the sketch for my second last post (the Christmas Cards). I was so relieved to finally make a post after so long, I forgot to post that I had based the Merry Pursuits cards on a Mojo Monday Sketch here. I'll be back later with a card.

Happy Birthday Uncle Shawn

This is the card I made for my brother who celebrated his birthday last weekend. He turned thirty, but I thought he would find Skater Ian fun! I rec'd this image from the Fulfill your wishlist thread over at Splitcoast Stampers, and coloured him with my copics. Since I have boys, I just had to have him. the DSP is "All about boys" from Around the block, something I've had in my stash for awhile. I must admit that I struggled with the layout of this one as I was trying to use the words in the background as part of the design. It was a fun one to play with though as this is the first card I've made with a Greeting Farm image.

I'm back with some Christmas Cards

Wow, sorry I've been away so long! I had another surgery and had no idea how crumby I would feel after. This time around, doc said I needed one week to recover, so I figured it would be no big deal - was I ever wrong! Surgery was on the 13th and I'm just finally feeling like myself again two weeks later!
Once again, a big thank you goes out to my friends and family for all their help. I truly couldn't have managed without you all! Donna drove me to the hospital and waited with me while the nurse did a botch job on my IV (I'm actually afraid of getting IV's now.....) and Danielle picked me up later that evening - very loopy and in a lot of pain (me, not Danielle LOL) - and stayed with me until hubby got home. (I was calling her "nurse" because at once point I had to ask for a drink, a cold cloth and a bucket!) Thank goodness my parents had found a seat sale and arrived early the next morning as their help was much needed over that long weekend.... I'm really hoping that I won't have to do that again anytime soon...
Anyhow, about my cards. I am posting these for Sparkle's Christmas Card challenge. This week the challenge was to use your favourite Christmas stamps - these little guys are my most recent faves from CTMH - from the set "Merry Pursuits". The second photo is of the inside. The DSP is called Musk from All my memories and seemed the perfect colors for these little cuties. Of course, I had to use my SU border punches, can't get enough of them. The sentiment is also CTMH. I like these ones enough that I will probably make up a few more to add to the slowly growing pile.
Thanks for looking, hoping to post again soon!

Happy Birthday Kris!

When I first saw "Jeepy Girl" from Stamping Bella, I just had to have her because my sister has a jeep and I thought it would make a perfect birthday card. When I found this Flocked Camo Just Chillin' boy paper from Making Memories at my LSS, I figured it would fit nicely. The icing on the cake was the matching ribbon! So, I've never really played around much with drawing in backgrounds, but the white behind Jeepy Girl just wasn't doing it for me, so I started to doodle and this is what I came up with. I think it turned out okay. The sentiment is from CTMH's Happy Birthday set.

So, I hope you had a happy day little sis! Hope your card gets there soon. (When we talked last night it had not yet been delivered and I sent it last Thursday!) Love ya!

Gorjuss Friend

Hi everyone! I hope you aren't tired of all my pink and brown posts - I can't get away from using this colour combo! I guess it's what I reach for when I don't feel like trying something different or branching out. I received this "Just a Girl" image from Shana over at the Canadian Express Image swap at Splitcoast (okay, I know, I've been doing a lot of swapping - but it is so fun!) and I just love her!

I used CTMH More to Adore DSP once again along with a little ribbon and a few heart brads. The tag is Stamping UP! I sent this one off to a friend I used to work with who moved away a few years back and has been dealing with some difficult health issues. I hadn't heard from her in awhile and wanted her to know I was thinking about her.

Kenya Ketto Thank You

I just love how these colours ended up looking together - they are CTMH Hydrangea and Ocean. I used the Spot on Backgrounds set on the Ocean CS to add a little something in the background. Kenya is coloured with my CTMH makers. This cards was based on a sketch by Taylor. It's the same sketch I used for my card posted on March 25th. I'm sure it's one I'll use again. Isn't Kenya just so cute?

Hedgie fun!

Here are a couple of quick cards that I coloured and put together when I only had a few copics, so some of the colouring was done with my CTMH markers. Once again, I used my border punch from SU - gee I'm going to wear that thing out if I"m not careful! Ribbon is Bo Bunny. I like both images, but especially like the second one which I believe is called "A winner!". I received both images from the Canadian Express Image swap at Splitcoast. Hope you have a great week!

Merci!

Ooh, I had so much fun making this one! I don't play with bright girly colours as often as I should, perhaps in part because I have boys - but these silhouettes just screamed for bright, fun colours. I must mention as I forgot yesterday, that I had first seen the paper peicing of these ladies done on a card made by Laurel and just had to try it - though I may have eyed it on the CTMH board rather than her blog - either way, go check out her blog, you'll be happy you did. Thanks Laurel for the inspiration! In this case, I paper peiced her entire dress - simple and easy, but such a fun effect. The CS background is swiss dot once again and the sentiment is from the new CTMH Thank You set. I think I'll be making a couple more of these to have in my stash.... Thanks for stopping by and Happy Saturday - our weather says that light snow is fallling (yes I said SNOW), but happily I cannot see any looking out the window. Fingers crossed that it will stay away. My poor lonely daffodils that have blooms in our front garden would not been too happy about seeing the snow, I expect...

Be yourself

Happy Friday! I had some fun last weekend playing with CTMH's May stamp of the month and this is what I came up with. I have been doing a lot of colouring lately, so it was fun to play with the silhouettes. I didn't do anything extra special with the first one, but with the second, I paper-pieced her skirt in watermelon ink. I added a rub-on along the side for something different and added a couple of rhinestones in the centre of the CTMH flowers. The sentiment is from the new CTMH Thank You set - I love it! Wishing you a fabulous weekend, thanks for stopping by!

Life is about who you love!

My baby brother is getting married! This is great news - ever since my sister was married in January, we have been wondering who would be next (of my two brothers). A few weeks ago, my brother called me up one morning and told us the news. I have to admit that I figured something was up since he doesn't call me that often. He and his fiance are horse lovers - he is so romantic - he told us about how he hitched his horse (well their horse) to an antique carriage (lanterns lit and all) and took her for a ride around the neighbourhood - he asked her when the got back and she said Yes! My boys are so excited because they had such a fun time at my sister's wedding and can't wait for another BIG party! Congrats Kory and Shannon!

Since our LSS started carrying stamps from Stamping Bella, I'm always looking for a good "excuse" to buy another bella - well this was a great reason to buy Blingabella! I had such fun paper-piecing her dress - something I've thought about doing many times, but finally got around to trying! The patterned paper is from CTMH's More to Adore, on a chocolate CS background. The quote is from Inkadinkado. Embellishments are CTMH, and ribbon unknown. Thanks for stopping by.

Congratulations!

I just love this image from Stamping Bella. Her name is Teddybella and I just had to make a card with her when we heard that our friends are expecting their first baby. Congrats Marc & Carmen! This image was coloured using mostly my CTMH makers since I didn't have the right colours in copics. The sentiment is CTMH and the patterned paper from my stash.

Fun with Cosmo Cricket

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who have been leaving me comments as I really enjoy reading them and it is nice to know that people are checking out my blog! I really should figure out how to put one of those counters on here. :)
Anyhow, this layout was done using Cosmo Cricket's Jack's World line. I fell in love with it when I did a make 'n' take at Scrapfest at Mall of America last fall. My LSS was kind enough to order it in for me. I love the bright fun colours! I found that my summer package of CTMH buttons matched many of the colours perfectly, so used them along with some embroidery floss to embellish. I had fun adding "apples" to the tree. Background is black Bazzill. Thanks for looking!

A layout - finally!

Well, I finally was able to take some photos of my layouts without flash thanks to some sun today! This is the first of the layouts that I made last weekend at the crop. The 5x7 is one of my faves of my youngest son and I'd been waiting to find just the right paper to use with it - and truth be told, the time to do it. Seems I've been obsessed with card-making lately - never a bad thing as I send a lot of cards, but it means I haven't been doing much scrapbooking! It was fun to get back to it, if even for a bit.

If I recall correctly, the paper is Fancy Pants - purchased recently at my LSS. The chipboards accents are from Bazzill and the black rhinestones are from KAISER - these are so fun to use. Stamped items are from CTMH and Hero Arts. Hope you have had a great weekend!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day! Really, I should be posting a layout since it's National Scrapbooking Day, but have been having trouble photographing my layouts. I will try again later today and post if they turn out. Anyhow, my Mom's Birthday was on Thursday and this is the card I made for her. I can't actually recall where I rec'd this Magnolia image from, but it is not one I own - could have been that my good friend Danielle shared it with me from a Wish RAK she rec'd. The sentiment is from the CTMH Happy Birthday set - I find myself reaching for this one again and again! I finished it off with some flowers and buttons.

I finished off the inside with a couple of butterlies and a quote from SU! along with some hand-drawn lines. Have a Happy Weekend!
